ALTHOUGH Aussie Pumps is a relative new- comer to the Australian pump market, the Aussie Fire Chief has actually been in service in this country for a number of years.
Previously marketed under the Pacific brand name before Aussie Pumps started, the Fire Chief set new standards for performance and lon- gevity.
Now Aussie Pumps is running a competition to find the oldest operating Fire Chief in the country.
The prize is a brand-new Aussie Fire Chief with a 6.5hp GX200 Honda pet- rol engine.
Aussie Pumps’ Brad Farrugia said, “Since we started the competition early in the year, we have found machines that are 28 and even 30 years old that have been operating continuously and provid- ing great customer ser- vice.”
“They are fitted with the original Honda GX140 engine, the first of the
overhead-valve single cyl- inders from Honda, and those engines still start first pull.”
Aussie Pumps selects Honda as the prime en- gine supplier for all pet- rol-drive self-priming pumps from the 1” QP1 Ultralite through to the big 6” self-priming water lifter.
Customers who have used the pumps for years are astonished at the way they just perform, year in, year out, even in a multi- tude of on-farm duties.
The pumps are used for wash-down, high-pressure water transfer, stock pen clean-out and even their original function, fire- fighting.
John Paul Jordan from Capertee Valley said, “Our old Fire Chief has never missed a beat in 28 years.”
JP identified himself by contacting Aussie’s spare parts department looking for a new replacement suc- tion port.
Twenty-eight years and he has never had to re-
place a seal or O-ring, and all he needed was a suc- tion port because he had burred the thread on the suction intake.
That is probably a record in machinery longevity and low-cost maintenance.
“What I like about the Chief is that it still per- forms just as well as when it was new,” JP said.
“The Honda engine nev- er misses a beat and the heavy-duty skids supplied as standard on all Fire Chiefs mean it provides a stable platform to work off the back of the ute or even in rough terrain.”
Aussie’s pumps are su- perbly match-tested to the Honda engines to ensure the engines are not over- loaded when the pump is in operation.
This extends the life of the engine and improves fuel economy.
The pump’s hydraulic designs ensures high effi- ciencies and performance levels.
JP’s pump is in the com- petition and now Aussie dealers around the coun- try are looking for any- body with an Aussie Fire Chief pump that is older and still in operating con- dition who would like to enter the competition.
Winners will be decided by the end of April 2017 and the new pump award- ed to the lucky winner.
“JP is in with a big chance,” Farrugia said.
“Aussie and Honda, what a combination.
“It’s that Honda-ap- proved engine match pro- gram that really gets the best out of the product.”
